Somalia Prime Minister condemns an IED attack targeted with regional minister in Southern Somali town of Baidoa

Mogadishu (Onkod Radio) — Somalia Prime minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Friday condemned a bombing attack that targeted and killed the South west minister of Justice along with son and other civilians, officials said.

The explosion which was from an IED killed Southwest minister of Justice Hassan Ibrahim Lugbur and his son. Several others were injured including a 2nd son of the deceased minister.

“The actions of terrorist groups will never discourage the efforts of the people and the Somali government to strengthen security and to achieve lasting peace in Somalia.”Prime minister Hamza Barre said on a twitter.

The bombing attack in Baidoa follows after the Somali militant group Al-Shabab on Friday attacked the Somali town of Aato close to the border with Ethiopia. Independent sources said the fighting started with mortars. The Al-Shabaab militant group claimed attacking the Liyu Police camp in Aato.

The attack was carried out early Friday by Al-Shabaab on Aato is the 2nd attack on the town in ten days. The group attacked Aato, Yeed and Washaaqo on July 20, attacked that led to the incursion of Al-Shabaab militants in Ethiopia.
